Having endured a catastrophic season from the Indian Super League (ISL) up to now, Kerala Blasters FC want to earn a few reinforcements from the current transfer window to strengthen their squad. Reportedly, the team has shown interest in registering in Irish midfielder Glenn Whelan as sources near the development can affirm.

Whelan joined the Hearts from Aston Villa last season as the later gained promotion into the Premier League. He’s spent a big portion of his career playing in the English top-flight as he played nine seasons of soccer for Stoke City. The Manchester City youth merchandise is also a standard with 90 caps for the Ireland national football team and has played alongside legends such as Robbie Keane.

The Kerala-based ISL side have endured the most this season as a result of sequential injuries to their key players resulting in a lack of momentum in the entire squad. Then, the worries only mounted as both Jairo Rodrigues and Gianni Zuiverloon combined Jhingan from the injury list.

They’re now in the 8th spot of the league table with 11 points. The Blasters have the maximum number of attractions so far this year with just two wins, contrary to ATK and Hyderabad FC. If Whelan joins, it might really help them get back on track and finish at a decent position.

The staff management is trying their best to bring back the winning momentum into the group and are in strategies to fix the present situation by bringing in some new players. A 5-0 win in their final match against Hyderabad FC could be the beginning of many great things for Kerala.
